Hi–I came across your blog as I was completing a family history and looking for a good illustration of Nauvoo. It appears in your lesson: https://mormonbloke.wordpress.com/2017/08/09/gospel-doctrine-2017-lesson-29-building-the-kingdom-of-god-in-nauvoo-illinois/
I wonder if you could tell me the source of this image, since I would like to include it and need to have a print-ready quality version. Very grateful for your help.

Hi – I came across this image on the internet as a postcard for Historic Nauvoo 1839-1846. See image here; https://i1.wp.com/mormonsundayschool.org/wp-content/uploads/Nauvoo.jpg?zoom=2
However, I have done a bit of digging and it seems it is a 1996 painting by Jacque Baker – https://i.pinimg.com/originals/13/9f/8c/139f8cac2dbd4e37287a5a51200427b9.jpg
Hope this helps

After three weeks of studying one of the conference talks for my relief society lesson, I was still unsure of how to teach the topic. Your blog was the answer to my prayers. Thank you so much for sharing your testimony and understanding of the gospel. I am truly grateful.

Hi Em – how wonderful! And how kind of you to share this with me. While I really write my blog for my own benefit ( a way of making sure I study the conference talks and sunday school lessons) I always hope that what I write will be of some help to others. Have a great day!

I’ve actually been following your blog for quite some time now (back when you were the “Mormon Bloke” :). I teach the general conference lessons and I ALWAYS consult your blog before I prepare my lesson. You have very insightful ideas and you present the subject matter so eloquent and clear. I’ve never commented before but I just had to tell you a BIG THANK YOU for your inspiration and ideas! I was scheduled to teach the lesson on the talk given by Elder Christofferson, “Preparing for the Lord’s Return (April 2019), I had no idea where I was going to go with this lesson until I read your blog and then my prayers were answered and my eyes were opened to the message that I had neither heard or read the many times I had studied that talk! Your insights and ideas were so inspired that I was finally able to teach the message because you helped me understand! Thank you for the time and energy you put into this blog! I know it has benefited me as well as numerous others who have found you! Thanks for sharing your testimony and your light!

Wow! Thank you so much for your comment. What a thrill it was to read it! I started blogging a few years ago because I wanted in a small way to provide some balance against the negativity on the internet. I blog on the General conference talks because it helps me to study the talks and try to understand what our leaders are saying. It is wonderful to know that someone else finds them helpful. Thank you so much for your kind comments,
Paul aka Latter-day Bloke

As a convert for many years, I always yearn to learn more about the Gospel. I’ve also been a RS teacher for more years than not. Your lesson helps are so illuminating in that I’m able to learn and share more on a spiritual level. Thank you for sharing your knowledge – it’s ministering to me!

Thank you Marcia – I am glad that my thoughts have been able to help you. I have not had the time to blog so frequently on this last Conference and will probably not be able to blog much in the future as my wife and I have been called as Mission President and wife. We are busy preparing to take up our new responsibilities from July 1st including learning a new language.
